The second these Valentine’s Day Charades cards came out of the printer, Hazel (my youngest) knew exactly what they were and was begging me to play with her.

All on her own, she is 3, she was able to say what each card was and then act it out. That’s the power of having some pictures on each card, so all ages and reading abilities can join in on the game with their own autonomy.

Hazel and I had a blast acting like flying love birds, pretending to put on jewerly, giving air hugs and kisses, and picking an imaginary bouquet.

In Printable Valentine’s Day Charades For Kids, you get to add a fun game to your classroom party, your at home celebration, or just as an extension activity to your day-to-day.

How Prep This Printable Charades Game

It truly is a quick and easy set up as all you need is a printer and some scissors!

How To Play:

1. Print the 27 Valentine’s Day Charades For Kids cards spread across 3 pages.

2. Cut out each card.

3. Optional, but highly recommended: Laminate your cards. Laminating your cards means you can reuse them year after year! I just stick them in my Valentine’s Day bin and pull them out next year with the other decorations.

How To Play Valentine’s Day Charade

All 27 charades cards include both words and pictures. This means your early readers can use the pictures to come up with the basis for the charades action while your readers can use the words and then have the pictures as a reinforcement.

  1. Put the cards face down in a pile, or in bucket or hat.
  2. Player 1 picks a card without showing anyone.
  3. Player 1 acts out what is on the card with just their body and no words. Everyone else has to guess what the card says based on Player 1’s actions.

If you have a larger group, you can play charades in teams. You can also choose to set a timer and keep score. There are so many variations to keep the game interesting and accessible for all varieties of players.
