We don’t do anything big for Valentine’s Day around here.

There are little gifts for the kids, usually a box of candy hearts they have to find via clue scavenger hunt, a bouquet of flowers Rob lets the kids pick out for me, and a card for Rob.

While our gift giving is nothing intense, I do like to sprinkle in Valentine’s Day themed games to our day, and to the week leading up to the day of love.

In Valentine’s Day Minute To Win It, we can play a few cards throughout the week, or save them all of one designated time as a way to infuse some movement, laughter, and hearts into the month.

How To Play Valentine’s Day Minute To Win It

After you print the 18 Valentine’s Day Minute To Win It Cards, the 8 additional pages need to play some of the cards, gather your materials, and laminate if you choose, you are ready to play!

There are multiple ways to play Minute To Win It especially to include younger players and larger groups. Here are a few ways you can choose from, so pick the best system for your players.

    1. One player picks a card from the jar or face down pile and has to complete the activity in one minute or less.
    2. Someone picks a card and everyone playing has to do the activity for a “first person to complete it” race.
    3. Pick a card and take your time doing the activity until it is finished. This is a great option for younger players, or those who get time and competition stressed.
    4. Pair off in teams and compete for who can “win” the most cards to be the overall winner of the game.

However you choose to play, everyone will be moving and laughing together!

Skills Being Practiced

You know I just love any printable activities that are games while practicing essential skills fo the kids. Minute to Win It games are no different.

For our younger learners, they get to practice:

  • Reading
  • Picture power (an early literacy skill)
  • Body control
  • Fine and gross motor skills
  • Patience
  • Sportsmanship – Think cheering on other players, losing gracefully, and celebrating wins in kind ways
  • Telling time
  • Speed – This can stress some young players out, so adjust the “minute” as necessary, or do away with it all together, to accommodate your time-stressed players.
