The amount of scavenger hunts I have put together for the kids over the years is more than I can count.
Seriously, they love them. I have done them for regular days of play, birthday parties, holidays, or just for a quiet day playing inside at home in the middle of winter.
My oldest loves to affix her scavenger hunt page to a clipboard, get a freshly sharpened pencil, and read/view each clue in detail. Once she finds the item, she perfectly checks it off on her page and moves to the next item.
It is enduring, adorable, and she is having a blast doing it.
As much fun as scavenger hunts are to do outside, sometimes the weather and nap schedules keep that from happening.
During those times, I turn to an indoor scavenger hunt.
Instead of focusing on specific objects, I like to turn to colors, textures, and shapes that are universal to the kids’ creativity.

How To Use Your Summer Scavenger Hunts
Scavenger hunts are super simple to set up, especially if the objects are not ones you have to hide ahead of time.
Just simply print your Summer Scavenger Hunt page, either the indoor or outdoor version (or both!), and start playing!
I like to set the kids up with a clipboard and a crayon or pencil to check items off as they find them.
You can choose if you want the player to check the items off as she goes, or if you want her to bring the items back to make a little pile, or place them on top of the clue on the page.
The best part is that you can play several different ways based on your child’s ability levels, attention span, and preferences.
