I got a little crazy with how Rob and I were going to keep them entertained for such a big day and created busy books for each of them.

Before even starting to find picnic list matches, your child can place the food cards in the proper location – either the fridge or the pantry. This elicits great discussions about food storage and connections to how your own kitchen is organized.
From there, your child can start by simply matching the items on the done for you picnic list cards with the items in the fridge and pantry. If she wants, your child can also use a dry erase marker and check off what she found.
To take it further, have your child draw her own food items she would like to take on a picnic and make her own picnic list cards. You can trade off who is filling in the basket vs who is making the lists.
