This perfect Mother’s Day gift hits all the boxes mom is after: family time she doesn’t have to plan, a keepsake craft, and flowers. Use this Mother’s Day Flowers Family Movement Game as a gift from the kids or just as an activity to do together.

With Mother’s Day being all about spending time together (and hopefully giving Mom a little time off), this activity provides an easy and fun way to do just that.

When I played this Mother’s Day Flowers Family Movement Game with my 5, 3, and 2 year old, not only were we laughing and giggling throughout each movement, but we were all breathing hard by the end.

Getting through each flower of activity took us about 20 minutes. Our 5 year old spent about 25 minutes working on her final Mother’s Day bouquet craft using the flowers she chose.

The final product is not only a proud Mother’s Day gift for her to hand me, but it is full of memories we made together from rolling around on the floor to spinning until we were dizzy and practicing cartwheels. It is one of the few countless art projects I am going to save.

How To Play

After the initial printing and cutting of the flowers, there are two ways to play.

  1. Spread the flowers upside down on the carpet, or
  2. Hide the flowers around the room or outdoor space for children to go “pick”.

Have the kids take turns picking a flower.

Do that flower’s movement together for as long as it feels good and is fun. Some movements take a few seconds, others last a few minutes (like dancing to a song and spinning until dizzy).

You can extend each movement beyond the card. For example, on spin until dizzy, you can spin in both directions, spin on your toes, spin on your knees, hold hands and spin, etc.

Move in ways that feel positive and natural to both you and your child. If you are having fun spinning , keep going! Alternatively, if spinning doesn’t feel good after just a few rotations, move to the next flower.

Once all the flowers have been picked and you are done with the movements, the kids can glue their flowers to a large piece of paper.

From there, kids can add stems, flowers, sun, clouds, bees, butterflies, ants, etc.

Voila! An adorable keepsake for mom that has a wonderful memory to go with it.

What age is this activity best for?

This activity works best for ages 8 and under. We played with a 5, 3, and 2 year old and everyone was able to participate.
