Ditch the whining and bring this Busy Hiker Hunt with you on your next family hike trip. It is a hiking scavenger hunt that will keep your child moving, entertained, and busy.

One of my absolute favorite things to do is go for a hike. There is a reason we lived in Colorado for six years and spent full weekends out on the trails.

With three little kids, our hikes look much different. We still make it a point to get out and explore trails with the kids multiple times a season, but the distance is much shorter and the pace is a lot slower.

This Busy Hiker Hunt is a perfect way to keep your child entertained while you are out on a trail. Like a hiking scavenger hunt, but with multiple activities for them to do both while you are walking and if you need a break, your little hiker will be able to focus on something else besides just putting one foot in front of the other.

I like to print one Busy Hiker Hunt per child, attach it to a clipboard, and give them a pen or washable click marker.

As we start our walk, they are focused on checking items off on their list as they go. Your younger children may need help reading the items, but you get to do the activities on the list together. Instead of memories of a long walk, they will have memories of being outside and finding things together.

How To Use This Hiking Scavenger Hunt

This is very easy to set up. Simply print your Busy Hiker Hunt!

I recommend you attach it to a clipboard and bring along a pen or crayon. As you go on your hike, check off the items you see and do.

If you enjoy going on hikes even just a few times per year, you should laminate your page. This way you can just pull out the same one again and again. Don’t forget your dry erase marker!
