4th of July Charades For Kids Pin 1

It has to be the teacher in me that I can’t just have a “hang out” party.

I like to have some kind of party game planned as a way to ground the event. Typically I plan two games: one to play at the table and one to play in the yard. That way everyone can be involved in a game or two depending where they are most comfortable.

This 4th of July Charades For Kids covers both a table and yard game.

Using the 27 printable charades cards, players can be as active with their movements as they want. each card has both words and pictures to make it easy for your youngest players to join in with autonomy as they use picture power to read.

Skills Learned During 4th of July Charades

I know that the Fourth of July is all about having fun and incorporating games to keep everyone active and playing, but that doesn’t mean your kids are not practicing some skills as you play.

Knowing that the kids are learning even through a holiday game makes me feel pretty great about checking off some summer learning.

Skills being practiced include:

  • Vocabulary building
  • Creative thinking
  • Connections
  • Imaginative thinking
  • Turn taking
  • Body control & awareness

How to Prepare Your Printable Family Charades Game

What I love about a charades game is that it doesn’t require any prep work.

Seriously, just print, cut, and play!

I do recommend you laminate your cards so they don’t get ruined with food spills or wet hands.

How To Play Camping Charades

You can this charades game in the typical way by secretly picking a card from a face down pile. However, if you are playing with younger kids, or those who may not have a lot of 4th of July vocabulary knoweledge, I would recommend playing by:

  1. Spread all the cards out, face up, on the table.
  2. Player 1 mentally choosing a card and acts it out.
  3. While looking at the actions and referencing the spread out cards, everyone else guesses what Player 1 is acting out.

You can always make it competitive and grab a timer to play on teams. You chose what way to play is best for your group!
